If you are claiming your cats are approved by judges for breeding, what judge and what show did they give an award and where can I verify this?

In a TICA breeder seminar, a judge once said, Judges are custodians of the breeds. They have a responsibility to improve the health and structure of a cat by judging it an informing breeders how to improve their bloodlines. This comes about in two ways, giving awards for those that are exemplary, and withholding awards or even giving a disqualify (DQ) if the cat is unhealthy enough.

Judges show their approval for cats by giving them top 10 all breed awards. At a cat show each judge is basically doing their own shows and will judge every cat and hand out their own awards. Since there are often only a few cats of each breed there, what really counts are the all breed awards. Everyone who shows up at a TICA show is given a rosette. Rosettes are expensive so they don’t give the judge one to hand out for each 10 placement in each class and each ring. Instead, stickers or plaques with judge award are given to be placed on the rosette. This is a picture of a show quality cat rosette. It was given a final in every ring by every judge at the show.

Finals are what count for titles and the points range from 50 to over 200 and are listed on the TICA website with show, date, judge, and what all breed placement. We list our cats show records on Meet the cats page. They have been given awards by judges that are also veterinarians and cat geneticist, and people who teach cat seminars on how the cat fancy can work to improve overall health of a cat even more such as fixing cow hocking.

Here is a link of one of my show cats as a kitten and I'll show you how to read the show report. At the top of the report is the date and location of the cat show. Below the date is the judges that worked that show. On the report for each ring is the judges initial and the placement of the cat. Our cat Batman got a final in every ring from every judge and was best all breed kitten in the show. Very hard for a scottish straight, and his breed is listed as SCS for short hair scottish straight. There were other cats judged but only the top 10 all breed awards are listed. In each ring he was given a sticker plaque to but on his ribbon shown above. The show reports are available to look up on the TICA website.

Also, each cat has a page where all the finals that cat has gotten are located. Here's one for our fold Pink. Her finals are listed by highest points first since only the top 50 finals count for international, regional, and breed ranking. So eventually the lower finals get bumped out Pink got 80 all breed final awards in that year but was too long to fit on one screenshot. Listed are the judge initials, date, and placement. At the bottom of the awards is a link to the show report to see the location of the show and judges name.
